Busing Transportation at Niitsitapi Learning Centre
Niitsitapi Learning Centre serves Preschool to Grade 2 students (ages 3–8). Transportation is provided in accordance with Calgary Board of Education (CBE) Transportation guidelines and is designed to support the safety and needs of our youngest learners.
Charter Transportation Overview
- Transportation at NLC is a limited charter service provided by Dreams Transportation.
- Busing is available to congregated (centralized) bus stops only.
- Families are responsible for safely walking their child to and from the assigned stop and following the scheduled pick-up and drop-off times.
Safety & Supervision
- Students under the age of 7 must be met by a parent or caregiver at drop-off.
- Students are expected to follow age-appropriate bus safety rules and listen to the bus driver at all times.
Registration & Address Information
- Families must register for charter bus transportation each school year by May/June through MyCBE.
- Transportation is provided to one registered address only.
- Students should be accompanied to their bus stop 10 minutes early.
- Any changes to a transportation address must be shared in advance with the school office, who will work with CBE Transportation to process updates. Transportation updates can take up to 6 weeks to process, especially during the first few months of the school year.
Preschool Busing
- Preschool students ride buses equipped with integrated five-point harness seating, designed for children weighing approximately 22–85 lbs.
- Niitsitapi Learning Centre has a defined bus boundary. Families may contact the school office or visit the school website to view the boundary map.
- At NLC, buses pick up and drop off directly in front of the school, and children are supported by staff when boarding and exiting the bus.
Note: Families should discuss bus absence-reporting procedures directly with their bus driver or transportation provider. Drivers will typically contact families 1–2 days before a child’s first scheduled pick-up.
