The Rock Garden
The Rock Garden is an outdoor learning space where students connect with the natural world through observation, exploration, and play. Throughout the year, children visit the garden to notice seasonal changes and discover how the land changes over time.
As students watch plants grow, leaves change colour, snow arrive and melt, and wildlife move through the space, they develop a deeper understanding of the cycles of nature and their relationship to the environment. The Rock Garden encourages curiosity, inquiry, and meaningful conversations about the living world around us.
This space also supports land-based learning by providing opportunities for students to learn together through hands-on experiences, exploration, and reflection. As students spend time in the garden, they are encouraged to recognize the connections between themselves, the land, and all living things.
Guided by the teaching, "We see signs of our relations," students learn to observe and appreciate the many relationships that exist within nature and the important role each living thing plays in the world around us.
