Registering your child for school for the first time is an exciting milestone, and we look forward to welcoming them to one of our amazing CBE school!

At NLC, we offer a full-day kindergarten program for First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students. Students attending Niitsitapi Learning Centre are transported to and from the school from all quadrants of Calgary.

Is My Child Old Enough to Attend School?

For children to be eligible to register and attend kindergarten in September 2025, they must turn five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2025.

The CBE Kindergarten Registration Guide can help answer many of your questions, such as:

  • Documentation to prepare
  • Registration process
  • Transportation services
  • Helpful links

Registration is now online!

To register a student please follow the Registration instructions outlined on the CBE website and navigate to Indigenous Focussed Program Option - Niitsitapi Learning Centre.

Registration at Calgary Board of Education (CBE) schools is not determined on a first come, first served basis. Registration and admission to schools in CBE is governed by the Education Act and Administrative Regulation 6090 | Child and Student Registration and Admission.

We are excited to be a part of your child's learning journey and to welcome you to our school! If you have any registration questions, please contact us. We are here to assist you!
