Community Partners

At Niitsitapi Learning Centre, we believe that strong partnerships enrich learning, strengthen community, and support the well-being of students and families. We are grateful to work alongside organizations that help us provide meaningful opportunities for learning, wellness, cultural connection, and family support.

Together, these partnerships help create a welcoming and responsive learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

NLC Wellness Clinic

We are pleased to partner with Primary Care Alberta and Elbow River Healing Lodge (ERHL) to offer the NLC Wellness Clinic, which operates every Wednesday during regular school hours.

The clinic brings a physician directly into our school to support the health and well-being of Niitsitapi Learning Centre students, their siblings, parents, and extended family members. The clinic provides culturally responsive primary healthcare and helps improve access to medical services for families who may not currently have a family physician.

This partnership is about more than providing healthcare. It creates a welcoming space where Indigenous students and families can access services that honour and celebrate their identities. When children feel safe, valued, and understood, it supports both their overall well-being and their ability to learn and thrive at school.

Need a Family Physician?
Families who do not currently have a family physician are encouraged to access the Wellness Clinic. Services include health promotion, prevention, screening, and early intervention supports for Indigenous children and families.

Accessing a Pediatrician
If your child is waiting to see a pediatrician, ask your family physician about a referral to the ERHL pediatrician.

To book an appointment or learn more about the Wellness Clinic, please contact Elbow River Healing Lodge at 403-955-6600.

Primary Care Alberta Community Oral Health Program

Niitsitapi Learning Centre is pleased to partner with the Primary Care Alberta Community Oral Health Program to support the oral health and well-being of our students.

Through this partnership, students have access to a dental screening and two fluoride varnish applications during the school year. These preventive services help support healthy teeth, identify potential concerns early, and promote lifelong oral health habits.

The Community Oral Health Program also provides oral health education and resources for students and families, helping to build awareness of the important connection between oral health and overall well-being.

By bringing these services directly into the school setting, students can access preventative oral health care in a familiar and supportive environment, reducing barriers and supporting healthy development and learning.

Nation’s Vision

Niitsitapi Learning Centre is proud to partner with Nation’s Vision, an organization dedicated to improving access to eye care services for children. Through this partnership, Nation’s Vision brings a portable eye clinic directly to our school, helping remove barriers that can make it difficult for families to access vision care.

Students have the opportunity to receive comprehensive eye examinations at school, and those who require glasses are supported through Nation’s Vision’s eyewear program. Their team works closely with families to help ensure children have access to the vision care they need to support their learning, well-being, and success in school.

We are grateful for Nation’s Vision’s commitment to serving children and families and for helping our students see, learn, and thrive.

USAY Medicine Wheel Warriors

Niitsitapi Learning Centre is proud to partner with USAY (Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth) to offer the Medicine Wheel Warriors program. Through this partnership, students participate in engaging, culturally grounded learning experiences that support their growth and well-being while strengthening connections to Indigenous teachings, identity, and community.

Medicine Wheel Warriors promotes balance and wellness through the teachings of the Medicine Wheel, helping students explore the interconnectedness of the Spirit, Heart, Body, and Mind. Through hands-on activities, storytelling, cultural teachings, leadership opportunities, and positive relationship-building experiences, students develop skills that support confidence, resilience, belonging, and personal growth.

This partnership enriches our school community by providing students with meaningful opportunities to learn from Indigenous perspectives, celebrate their strengths, and build a strong foundation for lifelong wellness and success.
