On Thursday, May 23, 2024 Kindergarten, Grade 1 & Grade 2 students will have the opportunity to visit the TELUS Spark Centre, located at 220 St. George's Drive NE, Calgary. All students are required to be at the school by 8:40am—the bus will leave at 9:15am. In small groups with adult supervision, students will explore the different experiences that the TELUS Spark Centre has including educational presentations, and playgrounds.
Cost: The $25.00 cost of this Field Trip including transportation has been covered by Education Matter’s Field Trip Grant and requires no payment from families. Please note that seating availability on the bus is limited, and we will prioritize accommodating volunteers with security clearance.
Itinerary:
Depart Niitsitapi Learning Centre at 9:15am
Depart TELUS Spark Centre 2:00pm
Prior to leaving the school, students will be organized into small groups for opportunities to explore and learn. Upon arrival at the TELUS Spark Centre teachers will review rules and expectations, and meeting points for departure will be identified.
Please be prepared: The TELUS Spark Centre’s off-site experience will include time outdoors and children will need to be dressed in clothing and shoes that are appropriate for both the weather and for walking throughout the day. Due to time outdoor if you would like to apply sunscreen, please do so prior to sending your child to school. Snacks and lunch will be provided.
Students will need to be properly prepared for this trip with the following items:
Water Bottle
Weather-appropriate clothing (shorts, t-shirt, light jacket, etc.)
Hat
Outdoor footwear (e.g., running shoes, walking sandals)
Environmental/medical considerations (e.g. inhalers, sunscreen, epipens)
Consistent with AR 6005 | Student Code of Conduct, students may be held accountable for behaviour that impacts the school beyond the hours of school operation when their conduct detrimentally affects a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning and work environment. Please note that prior to the trip, the child’s emotional and physical readiness will be observed to determine if they are prepared for this day of learning in a new environment. If staff feel that the child’s day will be more successful remaining at school, parents will be notified.
